WELCOME TO
THE H&F PARENT/CARER CHAMPION NETWORK (PCCN)
Since April 2020, parents and carers in Hammersmith and Fulham have been at the forefront of a grassroots movement to support and empower fellow parents and carers, fostering stronger families and more resilient communities. This initiative, known as the H&F Parents and Carers Support (PCC) programme, was established with funding from the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) MOPAC and further developed by ASÉ CIC starting in November 2021.
The programme has seen the recruitment and training of PCCs, who are equipped to provide vital community-based, peer-to-peer support. These trained individuals work diligently to build trust and confidence among families, encouraging engagement with various services and resources available to them.
This comprehensive early intervention and prevention programme offers a range of support services, including:
-
Mentoring Skills Training: Providing parents and carers with the tools and techniques needed to offer effective support.
-
School Transition Assistance: Helping families navigate the critical period when children move from primary to secondary school.
-
Coffee Mornings and Workshops: Creating informal settings for parents and carers to share experiences, gain knowledge, and build networks.
-
Guidance on School Exclusions and Housing Issues: Addressing some of the pressing challenges that families face.
-
County Lines, Youth Crime and Exploitation Awareness: Educating parents and carers on these critical issues and offering strategies to protect their children.
-
Violence Reduction Programme: Working towards a safer community through targeted interventions.
-
Youth Justice Panel: Providing a platform for addressing youth-related issues in a supportive environment.
Through these initiatives, the H&F PCC programme is making significant strides in early intervention, preventing crisis before they escalate, and ultimately building a more cohesive and supportive community.
