ASÉ is committed to promoting the welfare of vulnerable, or at risk Children, Young People and Adults by having effective systems in place, which are designed to:

• Protect children, young people and vulnerable adults from physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect and bullying.

• Minimise risks to the health and well-being of children and vulnerable adults.

• Identify instances in which there are grounds for concerns about a child or vulnerable adult’s welfare and initiate/ take appropriate action to keep them safe.

• Ensure that all Staff are DBS checked.

 

Through the process of completion of a Mentoring Agreement, which requires all clients to sign – the concept of Confidentiality is defined.

ASÉ’s Safeguarding Policy in relation to Children, Young People & Vulnerable Adults gives clear procedures on responding to concerns regarding the safeguarding and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Combined with the associated procedures, and guidance, the policy provides a structure for staff that may come across concerns of this nature within the context of their work.

All staff and volunteers are required to read this policy as part of their Induction programme.

Regular supervision and team meetings are also in place to ensure review and concerns in relation to Safeguarding takes place.  ASÉ’s Safeguarding Policy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and to make certain that action is taken to support them if abuse is suspected.  ASÉ expects all staff, volunteers, stakeholders and those contracted to provide services, share this commitment.

ASÉ requires all staff to demonstrate high standards in their management of risk of, and in the active protection of children and vulnerable adults from discrimination and avoidable harm by fulfilling our duties for young people in accordance with Safeguarding Children in Education, DfEs 2004 and our duties towards vulnerable adults in accordance with the National framework of standards for safeguarding adults.

ASÉ has two Designated Lead Safeguarding officers.  The Lead Safeguarding officers for Safeguarding and Child/Vulnerable Adult Protection issues, leads safeguarding officers providing advice and support, as appropriate to other safeguarding officers and staff and liaising with external agencies.
